                              The following institutional milestones characterize the creation, evolution and main achievements of the Program:

» 1995

– Mar 15, 1995 – Launch of the HR Metrology Program (Human Resources Training Program in Metrology), formalized by Grant 01/95-Capes/HR-Metrology. This program was created as a result of an interministerial articulation between the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (Inmetro), Ministry of Education (CAPES) and Ministry of Science and Technology (CNPq).

– June/1995 – Approval of the PROPOSAL of PUC-Rio for the creation of a Master’s degree in Metrology (Academic Master’s Degree), submitted to Grant 01/95-Capes/RH-Metrology.

– Dec 6, 1995 – Act of creation of the Graduate Program in Metrology of PUC-Rio, with one concentration area named: Metrology for Industrial Quality (Acronym: PósMQI), approved by the Teaching and Research Council (CEP) of PUC-Rio (Resolution formulated in the Minutes of the 294th Meeting).

 

» 1996

– Jun 17/1996 – The PósMQI Creation Project is approved by the HR-Metrology Program to receive support from PADCT/FINEP (financial support for the adequacy of physical infrastructure, teacher training abroad and assistance in the development of master’s research in metrology).

– Aug 6, 1996 – Beginning of the Graduate Program in Metrology at PUC-Rio, with the registration of the first class of master’s students.

 

» 1998

– Aug. 28, 1998 – Defense of the first two master’s dissertations at PósMQI/PUC-Rio.

– Nov 13, 1998 – First Evaluation of the Program by CAPES (Concept 3, Biennium 1996-1997).

 

» 2000

– Oct. 11, 2000 – Twentieth master’s thesis defended at PósMQI/PUC-Rio.

 

» 2001

– Aug 28, 2001 – Second Evaluation of the Program by CAPES (Concept 4, triennium 1998-2000).

 

» 2002

– March/2002 – Scientific collaboration with the Group of Earth Sciences, Atmospheric and Planetary, of the Department of Physics of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), for the study of electrophysiological phenomena through imaging of the biomagnetic field and fluorescence of potentiometric dyes.

 

» 2003

– Sep 24/2003 – Acts of approval of the Reformulation of The PósMQI/PUC-Rio. Changed the Concentration Area from “”Metrology for Industrial Quality”” to “”Metrology for Quality and Innovation”” (keeping the PósoMQI acronym). Decision formalized by the 15th Meeting of the Commission of the Graduate Program in Metrology; by the 80th Meeting of the Sector Commission of Graduate Studies of CTC/PUC-Rio; and the 466th Meeting of the Departmental Council of CTC/PUC-Rio).

– September/2003 – Approval of the World Congress of Metrology of the World Federation of Metrology (IMEKO) to be held in Brazil, conquest of the Brazilian Society of Metrology in conjunction with PósMQI/PUC-Rio.

– Oct. 29, 2003 – Act of approval of the Reformulation of the PósMQI/PUC-Rio (372nd Meeting of the Teaching and Research Council of the University).

» 2004

– September/2004 – Scientific cooperation with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee USA, for the optical studies and measurements of fluorescence in biological fabric.

– SEPTEMBER/2004 -Third Evaluation of the Program by CAPES (Concept 4, Triennium 2001-2003).

 

» 2006

– October/2006 – Scientific cooperation with the Massachussets Institute of Technology (MIT), Biomagnetic Center, Boston, USA, through the Department of Earth, atmospheric and Planetary Sciences for the study of electrophysiological phenomena through the image of the biomagnetic field and from Fluorescence of potentiometric dyes (contact in MIT: Prof. Dr. Eduardo Andrade Lima).

 

» 2007

– September/2007 -Fourth Evaluation of the Program by CAPES (concept 4, triennium 2004-2006).

 

» 2008

-April/2008 -One hundredth defended Master’s Dissertation (14/08/2008) in PósMQI/PUC-Rio.

 

» 2010

– September/2010 – Scientific collaboration with Friedrich Schiller Universität Biomagnetisms, Jena/Germany, which has made its laboratory infrastructure available with high-resolution multichannel systems and magnetic shields for biomagnetic field measurements in animal experimentation studies and Clinical.

– September/2010 – Fifth Evaluation of the Postgraduate Program in Metrology from CAPES (concept 5, maximum grade for the postgraduate modality, evaluation based on the 2007-2009 triennium).

– September/2010 – Inauguration of the new physical space of the Postgraduate Program in Metrology, with the consolidation of the Study and Project Office that celebrated the signing of its 15th R&D project.

– December/2010 – Closed the academic period with 128 masters in metrology.

 

» 2011

– February/2011- PósMQI/PUC-Rio Strategic Planning, which resulted in the review of its research lines and curriculum to meet new demands and adapt the program action to the challenges imposed by the University’s environmental agenda. Sustainability was inserted in the program logo (metrology for quality, innovation and sustainability) and research lines were called: (1) instrumentation and measurement; (2) Strategic management of innovation and sustainability and (3) smart grids. A new curriculum was proposed, including 18 new disciplines and update of the others. After processing in the academic instances, the new proposal was approved by the 435th Meeting of the University Teaching and Research Council, on 08/24/2011.

– December/2011– PósMQI participates in the permanent process of academic planning and evaluation of the university’s departments and programs, in response to the university’s call.

– December/2011 -PósMQI obtained approval (2011) of the University Teaching and Research Council (CEP) to offer Lato Sensu Postgraduate Courses in Distance Education Modality (EAD) with the objective of training companies in five Specific areas of Advanced Management Development: Management of Vocational and Technological Education; Business management; People management; Innovation Management and Corporate Social Responsibility. CEP Approval: Resolution contained in the 430th Minutes, of 15 Dec/2010.

– December/2011 – Closing of the school year with a growing demand for the program by companies, with 13 dissertations defended in 2011, 43 masters resident in the program, totaling 141 masters formed.

 

» 2012

– March/2012 – Beginning of the operation of new research lines [(1) instrumentation and measurement; (2) Strategic Management of Innovation and Sustainability and (3) smart grids of the new curriculum (menus available at www.puc-rio.br/metrologia).

– April/2012 -PósMQI initiative/Academic Vice-Rector with Office of Scholarships, Training and Capacity-Strengthening of the Department of Human Development, Education and Culture of the Organization of American States (OAS) to include PUC-Rio in the program in the program OAS Becas.

– August/2012 – PósMQI participates in partnership with Pragma Corporation (Falls Church, VA USA) of the USAID E&E Regional Economic Growth Program to develop and implement the Private Sector Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Project (Balkans/Europe Central Region).

– September/2012 – PósMQI is invited by the World Bank to participate in an international expert group to evaluate the primary metrology infrastructure of a block of central Asia countries (Kazahkstan, Kyrgyzstan, Usbekistan and Tajikistan) as a support for support provision financial to promote regional competitiveness of products and services.

– July/2012 – Scientific collaboration with the Brazilian Center for Physical Research (CBPF), aiming at optimizing the properties of materials and sensors based on the effect of giant magnetoimpedance and the development of transducers with gradiometric configuration for the measurement of biomagnetic fields.

– October / 2012 -Cooperation with Université d’Angers, France (STIA) aiming at the exchange of students and teachers between postmqi / PUC-Rio and L’Civersité d’Angers.

– October/2012 – PósMQI becomes part of Globelics Latin American Network (Lalics) from the perspective of regional cooperation.

– October/2012 – The PósMQI Program coordinator is part of the Board of the International Journal of Metrology and Quality Engineering.

– November/2012 – The program signs collaboration agreement with Wedo Technologies, a leading company in the European market for real -time processing software development of large datasets to work in projects sponsored in system management and energy measurement.

– December/2012 -PósMQI/PUC-Rio obtains approval of two projects in the Federal Government Science Without Borders Program (doctorate and postdoctoral abroad) involving master egress and researcher of the program.

– December/2012 – PósMQI composes an examining board of public tender to hire researchers from the National Time and Frequency Metrology Laboratory, under the responsibility of the National Observatory, which operates by Inmetro delegation in the primary standardization of the time and frequency.

– December/2012 -PósMQI ends the academic period with 14 new defenses (totaling 154 masters formed) and presenting as the only academic postgraduate program in metrology in the country and with maximum grade (concept 5) in CAPES evaluation of the Brazilian Graduate courses.

 

» 2013

– September/2013 -The program received two new PNPD/CAPES postdoctoral grants, adding the doctors Rodrigo Flora Calili and José Eduardo Nunes da Rocha for a period of 5 years, thus strengthening his performance in the research line in Smart grids.

– SEPTEMBER/2013 -Sixth Evaluation of the Postgraduate Program in Metrology from CAPES (concept 4, evaluation based on the 2010-2012 triennium). The reduction in concept 5 in the 2007-2009 triennium for this concept 4 was mainly motivated by a deficiency in student production (PRDM indicator), which received special attention during the 2013-2016 quadrennium, seeking to adapt it to expected excellence levels by CAPES.

– December/2013 – Dec (10) new defenses were held in 2013 (totaling 165 masters formed).

» 2014

– September/2014 -Capture of IMEKO TC1-TC7-TC13 JOINT SYMPOSIUM 2017, Scientific Event of the World Metrology Federation (IMEKO), to be held in Rio de Janeiro under the organization of the Brazilian Metrology Society with the support of PósMQI/ PUC-Rio.

– December/2014 – Thirteen (13) master’s defenses were completed in 2014 (totaling 178 masters formed).

» 2015

– August/2015 – Capture of the P&D project GT-506, development of methodology and intelligent tool for continuous audit (24 months), hired by Energy Company of Minas Gerais (CEMIG), and executed by the PUC-Rio-Weddo Technologies consortium.

– August/2015 – Replacement of a PNPD scholarship by the Doctor of Mechanical Engineering (and Master in Metrology by PósMQI) Daniel Ramos Louzada.

– August/2015 – Capture of the P&D project 10/2016 (continuity of experimental development of R&D 07/11e): innovative hydrogenerator heat exchangers cleaning system, hired by the concessionaire Light Energia S/A.

– December/2015 – Fifteen (15) Master’s Defenses were completed in 2015 (totaling 193 masters formed).

 

» 2016

– December/2016 – Professor Dr. Rodrigo Flora Calili was admitted as an assistant professor (40 h) in the Postgraduate Program in Metrology. Hiring by unanimous decision of the Central Graduate Commission (CCCD/PUC-Rio), at its meeting of Dec 09/2016.

– December/2016 – twelve (12) master’s defenses were completed in 2016 (totaling 205 masters formed).

 

» 2017

– January/2017 – Hiring of PNPD scholarship Rodrigo Flora Calili for PUC-Rio’s staff, reinforcing the permanent faculty of PósMQI.

– March/2017 – Dr. Elcio Cruz de Oliveira (part -time teacher), in the category of collaborating teacher.

– June/2017 – After retiring for length of service and being evaluated by the University Council, Professor Maurício Nogueira Frota was rehired as an emeritus teacher (registration: 023082-0), based on the terms of articles 66 and 67 of the University Statute , in recognition of “relevant services provided to the university”.
– July/2017 – Visiting teachers in the program: Prof. Ignacio Lira (PUC-Chile) and Dr. Carlos Rufin (University of Suffolk/USA), both co-orienting master’s research and uttering short courses in Bayesian statistics and sustainability, respectively.

– August/2017 – Conducting in Rio de Janeiro of the Imeko TC1-TC7-TC13 Joint Symposium 2017 event, scientific event of the World Metrology Federation (IMEKO), under the organization of the Brazilian Metrology Society with the support of Postmqi/PUC-Rio .

– SEPTEMBER/2017 – Seventh Evaluation of the Postgraduate Program in Metrology from CAPES (concept 5, maximum grade for postgraduate modality, quadrennium-based evaluation 2013-2016).

– September/2017 – PósMQI wins the best product award, classified in third place, among the 128 products displayed at the Electric Sector Products Fair of the IX Congress of Technological Innovation in Electric Energy (CITENEL), held in João Pessoa, Paraíba (August 2 to 4/2017). Citenel is a biennial event held by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), considered the main locus for discussion of the results and impacts of the Research and Development Program (R&D) regulated by Aneel and implemented by the companies generating, transmitters and energy distributors .

– December/2017– Conquest of the maximum concept 5 (Quadrennium 2013-2016) in the evaluation CAPES of the Brazilian Graduate.

– December/2017 – PósMQI ends the year with 30 scientific articles published in journals classified in the Qualis and 12 master dissertations defended, totaling 217 masters formed.

– Year/2017– From this year, through CCE (Coordination of Specialization and Extension Courses), PósMQI began to offer the Lato Sensu Solar Energy Graduate Course. The course has as its target audience the higher level professionals in the area of ​​engineering or exact sciences, and can also serve architects or economists who have a engineering -oriented bias.

– Year/2017 – Participated with presentation of works by (I) 6th Latin American Energy Economics Meeting; (ii) XVII Latin-Ibero-American Congress of Technological Gestión; (iii) 3rd Energy for Sustainability International Conference; (iv) 14th International Conference on the European Energy Market; (V) Pipeline Rio Conference & Exhibition 2017; (vi) Joint Imeko TC-TC7-TC13 Symposium; (VII) 37th International Symposium on Forecast; (VIII) XLIX Brazilian Symposium on Operational Research; (IX) 9th Brazilian Congress of Metrology and (x) IX Congress of Technological Innovation in Electric Energy.

 

» 2018

– January/2018 – PósMQI captures R&D project with Brazilian oil s.a. (Jan/2018 to Oct/2018): “Study of internal corrosion of exclusive anhydrous and hydrated ethanol ducts (alcoholdutos) and ducts that carry lightly and ethanol derivatives (polyducts).

– July/2018 – With the article “Determinants of Environmental Innovations: Evidence from the Brazilian Innovation Survey”, by Professor Fatima Ludovico and student Alex Sandro de Freitas, PósMQI) won the awards “The Best Paper Award” in the edition 2018 from the International Conference of the Global Business and Technology Association (GBATA 2018), held in Bangkok (July 3-7).

– July/2018 – PósMQI captures R&D project with Energisa Minas Gerais (Jul/2018 to Jun/2020): “Development of stochastic system to estimate technical losses

– August/2018 – PósMQI captures R&D project with Enel Distribuição Rio (AGO/2018 to Feb/2020): “Mobile power storage network development.

– November/2018 – PósMQI wins (first place) the OSE – The Quality Electrical Electrical Sector reflects an initiative of O Sector Electric Magazine, in partnership with the National Electric Sector Circuit (Cinase), created with Objective of recognizing innovative and successful efforts on elaboration, specification and installation of electrical engineering projects in the country. The award aims to recognize the best projects implemented in the year, highlighting the projects that favor the implementation of best engineering practices based on sustainability criteria, energy efficiency, safety of operation and maintenance, among others.

– November/2018 – PósMQI captures Institutional Research Project with FAPERJ: Notice E_11/2018 – Support to RJ -based educational and research institutions, “Application of GMI and GMR magnetometers to the location of foreign metal bodies in the human body”.

– September/2018 – Participation of 3 PósMQI permanent teachers in the XXII World Congress of the International Measurement Confederation (IMEKO), the most important international congress in the area of ​​Metrology, held in Belfast.

– December/2018 – PósMQI ended the school year with 13 scientific articles published in journals classified in Qualis and 19 Masters Dissertations defended, totaling 236 masters trained in 2018.

– Year/2018 – PósMQI, with work presentation, participated in the following events: (I) Advanced Photonics 2018; International Conference of the Global Business and Technology Association (GBATA 2018); (ii) International Conference on Energy Engineering and Smart Grids; (III) Euro 2018; (IV) XXII World Congress of the International Measurement Confederation (IMEKO); (v) Complain 2018; (vi) International Conference on Renewable Energies and Power Quality (ICREPq18); (VII) Rio Oil & Gas Expo and Conference 2018; (VIII) 50th SBPO – Brazilian Symposium on Operational Research; (IX) XXVI Brazilian Congress of Biomedical Engineering and (x) IX Congress of Technological Innovation in Electric Energy.

 

» 2019

– January/2019 – Incorporation of the Doctor of Electrical Engineering Guilherme Penello Temporão, CNPq Productivity Scholarship Level 2, to the Permanent PósMQI faculty, reinforcing the Instrumentation & Measurement Research line.

– November/2019 – Hiring PNPD Scholarship Daniel Ramos Louzada, Master in Metrology from PósMQI and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from PUC-Rio, for the PUC-Rio Teacher Staff, reinforcing the Permanent PósMQI faculty, acting on the lines Smart Grid and Instrumentation & Measurement. Substitution by the PhD in Energy Planning Isabela Alves de Oliveira, graduated from PPE-COPPE.

– November/2019 – Two new doctors teachers joined the program faculty: Dr. Daniel Ramos Louzada (from November) and Dr. Guilherme Penello Temporão, who is also a professor at the PUC-Rio Electrical Engineering Department.

– December/2019 – PósMQI 2019: ended the year with 30 scientific articles published in indexed journals on international base, 11 master’s dissertations defended, thus totaling 247 masters formed.

– Year/2019 – Projects captured by PósMQI: (i) CNPq (Feb/2019 A Feb/2022): “Compressed light generation for quantum information and quantia metrology”; (ii) FAPERJ (Sep/2019 to SET/2021): “Application of GMI and GMR magnetometers to the location of strange metal bodies in the human body” and (iii) FAPERJ (Dec/2019 to Dec/2022): “Source of light compressed for quantum information and quantum metrology ”; (iv) Petrobras Transportes S.A. (Sep/2019 to Sep/2021): “Study of the influence of sampling uncertainty on measurement uncertainty”; (V) CNPq (Jan/2019 to Dec/2022): “CNPq Inct # 465763/2014-6, Photonics National Institute, Info-Instrument and Measurement” and (VI) CNPq (Feb/2019 A Feb/2022): Devices Plasmonic in Nanobio – sensor and nanophotonic ”.

 

» 2020

– March/2020 – Suspension of face-to-face activities at PUC-Rio due to Covid-19 pandemic. In 1 week the PósMQI (just like all PUC-Rio) has successfully conducted the transition to distance learning, with 18 defenses by video conference since March 2020.

– March/2020 -Technical-Scientific Collaboration with the Electricity Research Center (CEPEL) for the development of the sponsored research project: “Implementation of the requirements of IEC 60060-1/10 and IEC 60060-2/10 Tests and high voltage calibration of the cenpel ”.

– December/2020 – eleven (11) master’s defenses were completed by 2020 (totaling 258 masters formed). “
